For the comparison I chose the release of the iPhone 6. Perhaps the biggest and most immediately noticeable difference is the language. Apple describes the new iPhone 6 plus as "the biggest advancement in iPhone history" and "packed with innovative technologies" whereas the New York Times describes the iPhone as a "behemoth" which does not have very good connotations. This is understandable as Apple is hardly going to disparage their own product whereas the New York Times is trying to provide a review of how it actually is. The press release also spends a lot more time talking about the hardware features and how amazing they are. The article however concentrates more on the software aspect as the author thinks that the new IOS update is more important than the release of the phone itself.
The news article also spends more time comparing the iPhone to other phones than the press release so that they can provide a more comprehensive guide on what the phone is actually like. Apple also uses a lot more technical specifications than the news article. The press release says that the new camera "captures 80 percent more light with a new sensor, larger f/2.2 aperture and advanced new features including burst mode and HDR video." As someone who is not very into cameras none of that really means anything to me whereas the news article says that it provides "better photos in low light" and also explains what faster frame rates mean, namely a smoother video.
